Echo Centofanti Calligrapher

Hi, I’m Echo!

I’m the Boston-area calligrapher and artist behind Echo Art and Design and I specialize in brand activations and live event calligraphy and engraving. Clients include Prada, Brunello Cucinelli, Nordstrom, Creed Fragrance, Balsam Hill, Deutsch Family Wine and Spirits brands including Gray Whale Gin, Bib & Tucker, Redemption Whiskey, Josh Cellars and Cantera Negra Tequila and CSI DCM.

In addition to live events, I also teach modern calligraphy workshops with Sip & Script. I absolutely love sharing my expertise and my enthusiasm for the art of pretty lettering, as well as the party planning aspect of creating a whole coordinated look for each of my classes!

Calligraphy and lettering has always been a huge obsession of mine. I always loved playing around with different lettering styles, even going back to elementary school. Then in 2000, when I was a senior in college, I took a letterform class where I learned some of the basics of pointed pen, broad edge and monoline foundational scripts and I completely fell in love! I continued to practice the art of calligraphy and spent the next 20 years developing my own modern style.

In 2020 I was looking to refine my skills so I sought out a more structured learning approach, which led me to take a variety of classes with numerous instructors, including Paul Antonio, AKA PA Scribe. Going back to basics and learning about the history of different scripts totally changed my perspective about calligraphy and dramatically improved my consistency and ability. I was even featured in Paul’s first ever Instagram Live interview with 2 of his other students, talking about our experiences in his classes.

I also have a background in illustration and graphic design. I started my business in 2006 after falling in love with designing invitations and accessories for my wedding, and was getting asked to do the same for my friends and family. I really loved the process of collaborating with my clients, taking inspiration from whatever they brought me and then I designed and created something from scratch and totally unique, just for them. Even better if I could create a whole cohesive look with calligraphy and other accessories like favors, signs and seating cards!

More recently my graphic design services have grown to be more of a passion project and I’ve chosen to work primarily with alopecia-owned businesses. As someone living with alopecia, I really want to spread awareness and bring the ideas of other alopecians to life. I have worked with the Baldtourage, a hair-loss community started by Christie Valdiserri, creating graphics to be used in social media posts and merchandise. I have also worked for several other alopecia-owned businesses to create logos and illustrations for t-shirts and podcasts!

When I'm not doing my own creative work, I enjoy doing other creative things with my family! Whether it’s various DIY projects with my husband around our home, or getting my 2 daughters involved in crafty gifts or themed birthday parties or homemade halloween costumes. I love making just about everything into an art project!

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I look forward to connecting with you!
